Decent value on sale

I was looking for a decent microscope for hobby electronics without spending a fortune. I snagged the AD208 8.5 inch LCD Microscope during a holiday sale. It was 15% off, which made a difference. The picture quality was good enough for my needs, and the built-in screen is super convenient. For the price I paid, it feels like a solid deal. Free shipping helped too.

AD246SM-Plus worked out

Got the AD246SM-Plus Upgraded Stand Microscope. The upgraded stand is definitely a plus, felt very stable for fine adjustments. Image quality was crisp enough, and having the multiple lenses is handy. Shipping took exactly 7 days from order confirmation to my doorstep. My only minor nitpick is that the instruction manual could have been a little clearer on some of the software features, but I figured it out eventually.

Good microscope, slow shipping

I ordered the AD409 Max HDMI Digital Microscope for some PCB work. It took about two weeks to arrive after shipping, which felt a bit long. The microscope itself is excellent, though. Setup was straightforward, and the image quality on my external monitor was very clear, even at higher magnifications. The controls are intuitive, and I didn't have any issues focusing or adjusting the lighting. The included stand is sturdy, which was a concern since I do a lot of precise soldering. Support was responsive when I inquired about shipping, but they couldn't speed it up.

Thinking about getting the AD409 Max, but also looking at some Hayear models. Any thoughts on which is better for electronics repair, specifically SMD?

R Renee E. 2 months ago
For SMD, I'd definitely go with the Andonstar. The AD409 series has really good working distance and clear optics for those tiny components. My buddy has a Hayear and it just doesn't feel as robust.

I've used both, and for the price, the AD409 Max is hard to beat for soldering. The refresh rate feels smoother than the Hayear I tried.

Hey, wondering if anyone knows how long shipping usually takes for these microscopes to, like, California? Need one for a project soonish.

B Ben 2 months ago
Mine took about a week to get to LA. I think they ship from a US warehouse for most orders.

Yeah, I'm in Arizona, and I got my AD409 in like 5 business days. Pretty quick actually.

Anyone tried returning one of these? How was the process if it didn't work out?

R Ryan 2 months ago
Yeah returns were easy, did it last month. Just had to email them and they sent instructions.

I returned an older model a while back. It was pretty straightforward, just make sure you keep all the original packaging. They give you a window to do it too, so no rush.

Can you stack coupons on their site? Got a newsletter signup code but also eyeing a Black Friday deal.

M Megan B. 1 month ago
Pretty sure you can't stack 'em. I tried combining a promo code with a sale item last year and it wouldn't let me.

Nope, usually it's one code per order. They mention it in their terms sometimes, afaik.

i'm a student, are there any special discounts for us engineering types?

N Noor 2 months ago
I think they do have a student discount program. I remember seeing something about it during back-to-school season.

Yeah, they usually do. Check their FAQ or contact support, they might ask for student ID verification.

Do these microscopes come with the right power adapter for US outlets? Don't want to have to buy a separate one.

J Julia D. 1 month ago
Mine came with a US plug, no issues there.

Yeah, if you order from the US site, they send the correct adapter. Mine for the AD208 was perfect.

Are these microscopes actually legit? Like, the website isn't some scam right? Prices seem almost too good.

C Chris 1 month ago
Nah, they're legit. I've bought two different models from them over the years.

Totally legit. It's a real brand, been around for a bit. There are tons of reviews on YouTube from real users too, that's how I found them.
